I was recently asked to participate in an exhibition of self-portraiture at Orbital Comics (London’s best comic shop – fact!) alongside Shaky Kane, David Hine and other Brit comics luminaries.

This is what I turned in.

Camilla and the boys at Orbital are hugely supportive of the small press and are generally just tops all round. So if you’re in London and in need of a comics fix, you should head there.

A while back we Mindless Ones put together a zine collecting some long-form essays by us and some of our favourite comics bloggers. I put the whole thing together from cover to back page for my sins…. Anyway I really wanted a striking cover and worked on it for a long time. Above is a cover that almost made it.

Eventually I went for the slightly simplified version below. Less ‘film poster’ like and with a heavy future-retro vibe:

Done recently for my niece’s birthday. I love Big Cat. Big Cat loves cake.

This was a cover proposal for a phonetics language book that was never used, but I liked the impressionistic wash of the London backdrop contrasted with the crisp, almost 50′s iconic character.
